Care providers

Adult social care providers are organisations that offer services and support to adults who need help with their daily living activities, such as personal care, household tasks, or social activities. Some adult social care providers are independent, meaning they are run by private businesses or charities, and some are run by public bodies, such as local authorities. Adult social care providers may operate in different settings, such as residential homes, nursing homes, supported living, day centres, or home care.

Local Authority

A local authority is a public body that is responsible for providing various services to the people who live in its area, such as education, housing and social care.

A local authority has a duty to assess the needs of adults who may require care and support, and to arrange or fund the services that meet their eligible needs. A local authority also has a role in promoting the wellbeing of adults who need care and support. They also safeguard adults from abuse or neglect.
